DJ Driver Training conducts Workplace Transport site surveys and provides advise on any issues raised.

We also provide Banksman for the Reversing of Vehicles training

Workplace transport includes:- Any powered vehicle / mobile work equipment used in a workplace, In practice Forklifts, Lorries and Vans

Transport is an HSE target area, Inspectors are likely to raise transport safety if they visit your site. They are looking for clear signs that you meet recognised standards. Well defined traffic routes free from obstruction. Every effort made to separate pedestrians from vehicles, Physic al barriers, Distance, Time, Do yellow lines stop people being hit. Pedestrian crossing points. Effective one-way system for HGVs. Exclude pedestrians (where possible) Design so reversing eliminated / reduced. Big enough area may dictate vehicle types allowed. Designated turning points drive through forward only loading areas and one way systems.  Deliveries / Collections:-MHSW requires co-operation with suppliers, carriers and recipients. All should exchange delivery safety information.

The Reversing of Vehicles wherever possible should be kept to a minimum and where there is a need for reversing a Banksman should be in attendance. A pre-agreed system of signals should be used, these can be found in HSE INDG 184. The Banksman should maintain a safe distance from the vehicle and prevent anyone from entering the reversing area.
